Day 4: Königswerft (Ireland Island), Bermuda. Arrival time: 08:00. Departure time: 17:00. Duration of port stay: 9 hours. King`s Wharf, also known as the Royal Naval Dockyard, is located on Ireland Island in the westernmost of the nine regions of Bermuda, Sandys Parish.
The port facilities were operated by the British for a long time as the "Gibraltar of the West." It served as a shipyard and provisioning station for vessels traveling between the West Indies in the Caribbean and Nova Scotia. The fort, built between 1814 and 1863, served as a base in both World Wars and was abandoned in 1951.
Later, new life was breathed into the buildings: today, there is a maritime museum, a cinema, a crafts market, and the "Bermuda Snorkel Park" located here.
