A must-see attraction is the Sogno g Fjordane Coastal Museum, which offers visitors insights into the history and culture of the country.

Ålesund is also known as the Venice of the North and is the largest fishing port in Norway with its large, year-round fishing fleet.

The harbor city of Ålesund, located on three islands, was rebuilt in the Jugendstil architectural style after the great fire of 1904. The best view over the city in the sea and the surrounding islets can be seen from the viewpoint hill "Aksla", which can be reached by 418 steps on foot or more conveniently by car. There, you will find the panoramic restaurant "Fjellstua". The Ålesund Museum offers insight into the city`s history. At the "Atlanterhavs" Park, you can observe the marine life of the Atlantic in large seawater aquariums. About 4 km east of the center is the Sunnmøre Museum, consisting of several sections. The Middle Age Museum provides a glimpse into the everyday life of the past, and you can also visit an open-air museum and a boat exhibition featuring old fishing boats and reconstructed Viking ships. A unique natural experience awaits on the popular excursion to the bird island "Runde" southwest of Ålesund.

It is the church and fishing industry, trade and service companies that have shaped Brønnøysund. The name of the city comes from the numerous wells and springs that sailors used. Points of interest include the old town with its houses from the turn of the century, the "Havngata," the Brønnøy Church, the recreational area Svarthopen, the "Hulebo" caves near Frokenosen, and "Torghatten" - the mountain with a hole.

The nearby border area with Russia is also a popular tourist destination when visiting Kirkenes.
