Day 7: Port Saguenay / La Baie (Quebec), Canada. Arrival time: 11:00. Departure time: 19:00. Duration of port stay: 8 hours. Outside the gates of Saguenay, the eponymous river and fjord meet. The city was created in 2002 through the merger of the cities of Chicoutimi, Jonquière, La Baie, and Laterrière. However, the center of the city has gradually shifted more and more towards Chicoutimi, where the numerous houses and the cathedral provide an impressive backdrop.

Old stone houses, narrow streets, and a well-preserved city wall from the 19th century are dominated by the city`s landmark, the famous Hotel Chateau Frontenac, which opened as a luxury hotel in 1892 and has about 500 rooms. A walk on the hotel`s terrace offers a breathtaking view of the St. Lawrence River and the well-preserved Lower Town. The Citadel, which is designed as a massive star-shaped fortification system around the city, offers daily changing of the guards as a tourist attraction as well as a military museum in the summer.
