Cruise Route

Day 1: Barcelona, Spain. Departure time: 17:00. The city is a successful blend of tradition and modernity. Here you can find both historical buildings from the Middle Ages and modern architecture. Barcelona is considered the most important economic center of Catalonia. In terms of culture, the Mediterranean metropolis has a lot to offer, including the Picasso Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the National Art Museum of Catalonia. In the Gothic old town "Barri Gotic" you will find the Cathedral "La Seu" from the 13th century. However, the symbol of Barcelona is the church "Sagrada Familia", designed by Antonio Gaudí. Barcelona is bustling both during the day with business activities and at night with an active nightlife. Another attraction is the "Rambles", the magnificent promenade located in the center, with numerous street cafes, shops, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs. Furthermore, one should not miss "El Puerto", the harbor with its beautiful view over Barcelona and the nearby boulevard "Paseo de Colón".

Day 3: Gibraltar, Gibraltar. Arrival time: 07:00. Departure time: 16:00. Duration of port stay: 9 hours. The British city of Gibraltar is located south of the Spanish coast. The 27,300 inhabitants are protected by a heavily fortified military and trading port. The unique location of the peninsula, which connects the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, can be seen as a reason for this. The waterway, called the "Strait of Gibraltar," is 60 km long and 14 km wide at its narrowest point. Gibraltar has been a frequent battleground throughout history: conquered by the Spaniards in 1462, they had to cede the island to the British in 1704. As a result, Gibraltar was declared a British crown colony in 1830. However, Spain still claims ownership of the city and its bay. The city`s attractions include the Catholic Cathedral of St. Mary the Crowned, the Anglican Cathedral of Holy Trinity, the Gibraltar Museum, and the Governor`s Palace known as "The Convent," where the changing of the guard can be observed several times a day. The most famous inhabitants of the famous Rock of Gibraltar are the Barbary macaques, which the British imported from North Africa in the 18th century.
