The new museum at Solomos Square contains Byzantine and post-Byzantine works of art of high quality. The Solomos and Kalvas Museum contains the remains of the national poets Dionysios Solomos and Andreas Kalvas in its mausoleum. There are few beaches on the north and west coasts, but the famous "Blue Caves" near Cape Skinari and the well-known "Smuggler Wreck" near Volimes, where the coast is lined with rugged cliffs.
