The oldest and most famous wooden houses in the city can be found on Bryggen, the former Hanseatic wharf. These unique buildings have been included in the UNESCO list of world heritage sites, as one of four sites in Norway. Places of interest include the Hanseatic Museum, Bryggen Museum, Bergenhus Fortress, Mariakirken, Jorgenskirken, and the leprosy museum, as well as the aquarium.
