Cruise Route

Day 1: Glasgow, Scotland. Departure time: 17:30. The port city of Glasgow is located in the southwest of Scotland, directly on the River Clyde. With nearly 600,000 inhabitants, Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland. Even in ancient times, the region of present-day Glasgow was densely populated, and the city then developed into an important religious and scientific center in the Middle Ages, which is still evident in its cityscape today, despite the urban decay in the 1970s and 1980s. Today, Glasgow is an elaborately restored, modern, and culturally significant city with many attractions, such as St. Mungo`s Cathedral, the Necropolis, or the Glasgow Science Center. In Glasgow, you will find many trendy restaurants and traditional pubs that you can visit during your shore leave. Additionally, there are a variety of interesting museums, art galleries, and extensive parklands in Glasgow.

Day 2: Fort William, Scotland. Arrival time: 10:30. Departure time: 20:30. Duration of port stay: 10 hours. In the shadow of Scotland`s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, lies the town of Fort William on the Caledonian Canal. The scenery surrounding the town is spectacular. Scotland`s most beautiful landscape, they say, is located around Fort William. The area is perfect for hiking or mountain biking. In Glen Nevis, a valley not far away, you can admire the stunning Steall Falls. In the town itself, you will find the West Highland Museum, which explores the history of historic Scotland and is definitely worth a visit.

Day 3: Kyle of Lochalsh, Scotland. Arrival time: 07:00. Departure time: 17:00. Duration of port stay: 10 hours.

Day 4: Stromness (Orkney), Scotland. Arrival time: 13:00. Departure time: 19:00. Duration of port stay: 6 hours. The small town of Stromness serves as the ferry port to the mainland and the rest of the Orkney Islands. The port gained recognition in the 17th century due to the arrival of many whalers. Stromness is also referred to as the grey city by the sea, due to the dreary color of its houses.

Day 5: Lerwick (Shetland Islands), Scotland. Arrival time: 07:00. Departure time: 12:30. Duration of port stay: 5 hours 30 minutes. Lerwick is the main port of the Shetland Islands and plays a key role in the area`s economy and infrastructure. Ideally located, it is a frequently visited destination for cruise ships on routes between Iceland, the Faroe Islands, Norway, and Scotland. With its many small islands and the Shetland ponies living there, the Shetland Islands are a popular excursion destination, also for day tourists from Aberdeen and Orkney.

Day 6: Oldenburg (North fjord), Norway. Arrival time: 12:30. Departure time: 18:30. Duration of port stay: 6 hours. Olden is located in an Eldorado of deep fjords, high mountains, and mighty glaciers. From here, it is only a short distance to Norway`s most famous glacier, Briksdalsbreen. But already the sight of the colorful glacier stream, which snakes harmoniously through the valley down through the city, will leave a lasting impression on you. Olden is the perfect starting point for Briksdalsbreen, Vestkapp, Fjærland with the Glacier Museum, Geiranger and Dalsnibba, Videseter and the old Strynefjellsweg, Jostedal National Park Center, Stryn Summer Ski Center, and glacier climbing.

Day 7: Flam (Aurlandsfjord), Norway. Arrival time: 10:00. Departure time: 19:00. Duration of port stay: 9 hours. The Norwegian city of Flåm is located on the new, year-round accessible main road that connects East and West Norway. The port city has good train, bus, and boat connections to Oslo, Voss, and Bergen. The picturesque town is situated in the valley of a magnificent mountain landscape. Attractions in the vicinity of Flåm include the popular cycling trail "Rallarvegen", the Flåm Railway, and the Flåm Railway Museum. Numerous hotels, restaurants, and souvenir shops are situated around the Flåm Railway facility. During the summer months, a shuttle bus takes interested visitors from Flåm to the sights.

Day 8: Bergen, Norway. Arrival time: 07:30. Bergen is one of the most charming cities in Norway, not least because of its unique location between seven hills. The city, with a population of 218,000, is the second largest in the country and the capital of the Hordaland County. In 1070, Bishop Olav Kyrre granted Bergen city rights, and in 1217, King Hakon IV declared it the capital of Norway. The oldest and most famous wooden houses in the city can be found on Bryggen, the former Hanseatic wharf. These unique buildings have been included in the UNESCO list of world heritage sites, as one of four sites in Norway. Places of interest include the Hanseatic Museum, Bryggen Museum, Bergenhus Fortress, Mariakirken, Jorgenskirken, and the leprosy museum, as well as the aquarium.
