They are the smallest of the 18 species of penguins and the only ones that breed off the coast of Australia. Visitors can observe the penguins returning to their nests in the evenings from grandstands. A visit to the Koala Sanctuary is also worthwhile, which is a care and breeding station for Koalas. Here, you can see the cute marsupials in their natural environment. There is also a wildlife park where you can see, among others, kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, dingoes, Tasmanian devils, emus, cockatoos, and wombats.

The main street of the metropolis is "Rundle Street," which is home to numerous department stores, small shops, boutiques, and restaurants. At the port of Adelaide, you can still find beautiful old buildings such as the police station from 1860, a warehouse from 1865, and numerous historic residential houses. Other attractions include the "Old Parliament House" from 1855, the "Migration Museum," the "Australian Museum," and two universities (founded in 1847 and 1966).
